The Octavia Butler (Birthday Bookmobile) Reading Room
Monday, June 22nd 3pm-6pm
The Gazebo in Trinity Park, Durham NC
(on the corner of Trinity and Watts)
In celebration of the birthday of the prolific prophet Octavia Butler, Black Feminist Bookmobile is temporarily installing a 3 hour reading room at the gazebo at Trinity Park (at the corner of Trinity Ave. and Watts Street).
That means that for 3 hours I will be at the park with many books by and about Octavia Butler and other black feminist speculative, science fiction and fantasy authors from the Eternal Summer of the Black Feminist Mind Reference Library/ Permanent Collection. Come thumb through or just talk about Octavia with me for a minute. There is no formal program so stop by whenever you want! I will also have ice cold Octaviade (Octavia-ade) which is a refreshing non-alcoholic summer drink that I invented in honor of Octavia.
(I will also have prints of the Octavia Collage for donation exchange!)

*unexpectedly this installation of the Black Feminist Bookmobile is also dedicated to Cynthia Hurd, the librarian killed in the attack at Mother Emmanuel AME Church. Good librarians live forever.
