Charis Books and More/Charis Circle

1189 Euclid Ave NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30307
Join us for a celebratory conversation with Alexis Pauline Gumbs, co-editor of Revolutionary Mothering: Love on the Front Lines, an anthology that centers mothers of color and marginalized mothers’ voices in exploring connections between movement work and the work of parenting. Revolutionary Mothering argues that the challenges faced by movements working for anti-violence, anti-imperialist, and queer liberation, as well as racial, economic, reproductive, gender, and food justice are the same challenges that marginalized mothers face every day. Alexis will read selections from the anthology and her own Revolutionary Mother Pauline McKenzie will share about her work as a doula and therapist.  Members of the Love Spirit Balm collective who are featured in the book will also be present.  Dr. Gumbs will lead us in a community discussion about mothering, parenting, and the revolutionary movements we are all a part of.
