Nightmare Transformation: A People of Color Dream Workshop on MLK Day in Durham, NC

Monday, January 18, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (EST)

3101 Guess Rd. Ste. A, Durham NC 27705Audre_Lorde-Collage-150rez

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2016 we are going to face our nightmares and our deepest darkest dreams and honor all of it as exactly what we need to transform the world.   We have dreams everyday.  And we don’t remember all of them.  And some of them are nightmares shaped by our reality, and some of them are radical visions of the world we deserve.   Black Lesbian Poet Warrior Audre Lorde had recurring nightmares about police violence, her academic job and the fate of her children.  She also had gorgeous and erotic visions that she shared with her multiple communities toward liberation.  What are you dreaming about these days?

This will be a space for people of color to learn about Audre Lorde’s dream journals and theories of poetic dreaming, to access Alexis’s dreamstone oracle, to share and listen to each others dreams and nightmares, make poems, move our bodies and activate our collective dreams as the oracles we need to transform fear into love at this crucial time.   This event is open to dreamers of color ages 12 to 120. Refreshments will be provided and art, reading materials and sign-ups for one on one dream oracle sessions will be available.
