701 Tillery St. Suite A-7 Austin, TX 78702
Description:
Dr. Alexis Pauline Gumbs, Queer Black Trouble Maker and Black Feminist Love Evangelist, will talk about black feminist archeology as a method for digging deep through generations and the dirt of systemic oppression. This will be a chance to experience community accountable intellectual work in practice. This lecture will draw on the black feminist/womanist sacred text In Search of Our Mother’s Gardens by Alice Walker. If you have a copy, bring it.
Let Love Land artist residency is an interactive art installation that channels generations of love into tangible individual and community resources. This residency is designed to facilitate participants as they go deeper and get more grounded in spiritual vibration and purpose. Through visual, sonic and intellectual installation opportunities Sangodare (priest, composer, media-maker, educator) and Alexis Pauline Gumbs (prayer poet priestess and black feminist love evangelist) will engage the allgo community and their allies in Austin with a visual exhibit, queer choir practice, an interactive dance party and opportunities for one on one sessions with the artists.
